IKEA France creates Airport Lounge

Posted: 25 Jul 2012 09:19 AM PDT

For the first time ever: IKEA France creates a lounge open to everybody at the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport, Terminal 3 from July the 13th to August th 5th of 2012 !

Holiday departures are often a source of stress and because the waiting time in the departure lounge is an average of 1 hour and 43 minutes, IKEA wanted to use its expertise in interior design to serve the economy class.

IKEA Lounge is a space of over 220m² for the whole family to relax before going on vacation.

Completely free, visitors will live a unique experience: greeted by a hostess, they can relax by reading the press, by watching TV from a comfortable sofa, or enjoy the quality of IKEA's mattresses for a nap in one of the 9 bedrooms of the space (including one accessible to the disabled).

Ikea Lounge contains also a specially dedicated space for children where they can enjoy themselves in a secure area of 50 m2, under the benevolent supervision of qualified instructors.

Cloud Softlight by Molo Studio

Posted: 24 Jul 2012 07:41 AM PDT

The Vancouver-based Molo Studio is dedicated to the research of materials and the exploration of space making. Inspired by the idea that smaller tactile objects have a real potency in the physical experience of space, molo sets out to create objects that define intimate temporal spaces.

The Cloud softlight is a cloud-alike pendant lamp, to create an undulating overhead canopy of soft luminous forms. When a few Cloud soft-lights hang together to flow in a unique topography will create interesting cloudscapes to a space. The hollow honeycomb structures are internally lit by LED, making the three-dimensional forms mysteriously radiant when viewed from any direction.

Cloud Softlight available in three sizes, allowing different configuration in any space.

The Belvedere Helmet by Les Ateliers Ruby

Posted: 12 Jul 2012 07:06 PM PDT

Another luxury helmet design from Les Ateliers Ruby, the "Belvedere®" helmet is based on the original Ruby® helmet: the "Pavillon®", however the new addition to the Ruby motorcycle helmet range has the added advantage of an articulated visor that covers the riders entire face; it acts as a pivoting windscreen.

While the "Pavillon®" is a contemporary classic design, and is based on the classic, "retro", even historic forms. The Belvedere becomes a completely different; the simple addition of the visor and the two aluminium visor pivots takes the Ruby® helmet in to a retro-futuristic world, the helmet mimics the 'Robot' like characteristics of cartoon characters in Japan.

Every "Belvedere®" comes with 3 separate visors: one transparent, one smoke and one racing dark. It takes just a few seconds to change the visor: Simply unscrew the aluminum plates that lock the visor in place. The articulation system allows you to open the visor in three positions, plus an extra notch to hold it firm at high speed.

ORIGAMI by Vacavaliente

Posted: 10 Jul 2012 10:41 PM PDT

A homage to the beauty and rigor of the structural folds of Japanese paper origami, Argentina design firm- Vacavaliente has created the ORIGAMI, the leather objects for small things.

The ORIGAMI collection consists of sets of objects designed to be used as creative stationary items. For example the RYO, designed to hold paper & pen is inspired by mountain folds with the curves which feel like wings ready to fly. Another object, the AYUMI is designed for storing intimate things. The petal's folds open timidly revealing its inner contents. The KAORI with rose petals-like folds is purported for flower vase where you can fill with water.
